ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB es una exposición de carteles que piden el desarme nuclear universal. Cada una realizada por un artista diferente, el proyecto comprende obras contemporáneas e históricas, que detallan una historia cultural de los movimientos de desarme nuclear y evidencian la diversidad de formas en que los artistas han expresado la necesidad de prohibir la bomba. ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB está concebido para ofrecer la máxima agilidad y eficacia económica, aprovechando una paleta en blanco y negro, tanto para causar impacto, como para facilitar su reproducción. Pedimos a los artistas que sus obras puedan reproducirse en varios tipos
de soportes, como carteles, postales, espectaculares, pancartas, banderas, camisetas y medios digitales, con el objetivo de amplificar la circulación de este mensaje.

ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB presenta obras de artistas conceptuales como Art & Language; al icónico artista pop, Keith Haring; feministas legendarias, Guerrilla Girls; las artistas de performance Regina José Galindo y Nadya Tolokonnikova de Pussy Riot, así como los escultores Magdalena Abakanowicz e Isamu Noguchi. También presenta fotografías de Robert Del Tredici y Ken Domon, junto con gráficos de protesta de movimientos sociales como la Campaña por el Desarme Nuclear (CND), fundada en 1958 y aún activa; organizaciones como el Peace Squadron y la Visual Artists Against Nuclear Arms (VAANA); y la Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). Además, examina otras formas de narrativa, desde el teatro de Bread and Puppet hasta películas como Dr. Strangelove de Stanley Kubrick e Hiroshima Mon Amour de Marguerite Duras / Alain Resnais, pasando por un estudio de la literatura, desde una temprana anticipación de una bomba atómica, concebido por primera vez por H.G. Wells en 1918, hasta la poesía hablada de Jayne Cortez. ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB, organizado por Estudio Pedro Reyes en colaboración con la Campaña Internacional para la Abolición de las Armas Nucleares (ICAN), se presenta con motivo de la Segunda Reunión de Estados Parte del Tratado sobre la Prohibición de las Armas Nucleares (TPNW) celebrada en Naciones Unidas en 2023.

ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB is an exhibition of posters that call for universal nuclear disarmament. Each made by a different artist, the group comprises historical and newly commissioned works that detail a cultural history of disarmament movements and evidence the diversity of ways in which artists have expressed the need to ban the bomb. ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB is designed for maximum agility and economic effectiveness, relying on a black and white palette both for its impact and ease of reproduction. We asked artists to ensure their works can exist on a variety of supports, ephemera such as posters, postcards, billboards, banners, flags, t-shirts and social media posts, as we aspire to achieve the widest possible circulation of this message.

ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB presents the works of foundational conceptual artists, Art & Language; pop hero, Keith Haring; legendary feminists, Guerrilla Girls; performance artists Regina José Galindo and Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, as well as eminent sculptors Magdalena Abakanowicz and Isamu Noguchi. It also features indelible photographs by Robert Del Tredici and Ken Domon alongside protest graphics from social movements such as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), founded in 1958 and still active; the epic Peace Squadron and Visual Artists Against Nuclear Arms (VAANA); and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). Additionally, it examines how stories are told, from the theater of Bread and Puppet to films like Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove and Marguerite Duras / Alain Resnais’ Hiroshima Mon Amour, to an unexpected survey of literature, from an early anticipation of an atomic bomb, first envisioned by H.G. Wells in 1918, to the visceral spoken word poetry of Jayne Cortez. ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB, organized by Estudio Pedro Reyes in collaboration with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), is presented on the occasion of the Second Meeting of State Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) held at the United Nations in 2023.
